one claire day
Have you been to Claire's? Have you seen her adorable baby girl and her beautiful name? Claire recently did a nursery tour in Little One Baby with a full name reveal: Eulalie Iris! There is so much to love about this name. And this beautiful space, where we get to share with Claire, Paddy and Lalie little bits of their family life in North Queensland, Australia.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. What are your plans? I think we're heading to a pool, a botanical garden, and planing a vacation for late July. What are your favorite mountain spots around the upper East coast (we'd love to rent a cottage with a pool)?
I'll be back here early next week with a new Ask interview (I'm really excited about it!)

Ishi + Lou
Kathryn Bently, the designer behind the beautiful jewelry line, dream collective also runs an inspiring blog. I found two names I really love while visiting:
Lou Zeldis, textile and jewelry designer who truly walked his own path, recently passed away. I was touched by Kathryn's beautiful words to Lou, and found such a happy harmony in his name. While Lou Zeldis was a man, the name Lou Zelda would be stunning on a woman.
Ishi Glinsky -- artist, jewelry designer and pretty name wearer. This one works for either sex and has meanings and pronunciations in Hebrew, Japanese (rock), Swahili (remain, stay, live), Hindi (one of the names of Goddess Durga), and was the name of the last member of the Yashi, for whom the word meant 'man' (more here).
In fact, I like Ishi and Lou together quite a lot.
some names on Kathryn's beautiful jewelry that I love:
Astrid
Dune
Holon (such a fantastic meaning)
Isis
Ivory
Mala
Oval
Quill
Any pairings you'd like from this bunch? A favorite of Kathryn's, Ishi's or Lou's designs? What are your favorite online discoveries of the week so far? Thanks for all the inspiration, Kathryn!

Cheryl Cambras + ERMIE
I'm pretty eager to see the newest ERMIE collection in it's entirety, and I'm really loving the bags Cheryl Cambras is doing for it. She named them after goddesses from Celtic mythology. Pop on over to Jennifer's to hear why Cheryl chose these stunning names.
Edain (such and interesting name, and one is in lovely name, Indigo)
Anu (boy do I love this name! and I think this bag is my favorite, too.)
Rhiannon
I must say, I'm tempted to go digging for some more Celtic mythological treasures. Do you know of any?

a fine roundup
1. Esther
2. Kerry is mom to Maisie and Bertie
3. Jaime is mom to Charlotte 'Charlie' and Max.

These are the names tied to the blogs I featured today over at Design for Mankind. Please pop over and visit the lovely people connected to these stylish monikers. You'll find even more interesting names in the arts they practice.
In other news (or lack of it), it's crazy busy at our house, so it's been pretty quiet around here, I know. We have guests for most of June, a very special 2nd birthday for our June next week, and we're trying (amidst all this) to land a house in the country. Our first attempt was beat by a better offer, but we're eager to keep trying! I'll be back more regularly as things slow down a bit more.
On that note, I'm starting some new projects this year, which I'll share more about further down the road. It's exciting stuff for me and mine, but requires more time away, I'm afraid. So I'm thinking I might pop in more often with posts that may stray off topic a bit. Perhaps I'll give snip its of our lives around here or simply share other things I love with you (of course, each time I sit to write a post like this, I end up finding a name to connect to it that I just can't resist sharing!)
What would you lovely readers like to see more of? Would you be disappointed to see me run occasional posts with no names connected? Would you be happy to see more of our own goings on around here? Are there any name topics you'd like to see covered?
I've also just updated my consultation page. For those of you who are new, I am taking a break from consultations, but I wish you a happy and inspired naming journey and hope my archives will be of some use to you! And if you've emailed me and not heard back, I'm sorry. crazy. busy.
ahh, summer vacation.

bessie's twins are here!
Bessie, from our last consultation, wrote to tell me that her twins arrived a bit early (I bet they're getting lots of snuggles atop all these pretty summer sheets).
Margo Helmi Swan and Rupert Järvi Spruce greet their well-named siblings with equally stunning monikers. I love that Margo's Helmi, Finnish for pearl (also a birthstone for June!), links in theme to sister Lowe's Moonstone, and her Swan links to sister Phoebe's birdie appellation, as well as being the national bird of Finland. Rupert comes honoring the lakes of Bessie's Finnish summers -- Järvi is Finnish for lake -- and shares tree roots with brother William's Sorrel. Spruce is probably my favorite tree name, so I'm particularly admiring of this selection! The twins names share many nice links between themselves, as well: Finnish middle names, one syllable S names for the second middle, and all that yummy nature. Beyond that, Margo and Rupert are just pretty perfect together, right?
You can pop on over to Bessie's to see the twins (so adorable). Congratulations Bessie and family! Thank you so much for letting us be a part of your sweet story.
